How Demagog builds audience engagement across channels
Demagog is an independent fact-checking organization dedicated to verifying public statements and combating misinformation. By analyzing content from politicians, media, and social platforms, Demagog helps audiences navigate the digital landscape with reliable, evidence-based information.
In a fast-moving digital environment, where misinformation spreads quickly, Demagog places strong emphasis on timely content distribution and building a loyal base of readers who regularly return for trustworthy insights.
📝 Goals
Demagog aimed to:
Drive immediate traffic to key articles, especially time-sensitive fact-checking content
Distribute content quickly and efficiently to reach readers at the right moment
Build a loyal audience base of returning readers
Encourage regular visits and strengthen reading habits through consistent engagement
“First and foremost, we wanted to increase direct traffic to our articles and build a base of regular readers. We also wanted the ability to quickly direct our audience’s attention to the most important content at any given moment and to encourage more frequent visits to our website.”

Solution
To achieve their goals, Demagog implemented PushPushGo as a multi-channel communication tool, combining web push campaigns, automation, and on-site messaging.
“Web push serves as a tool for promoting up-to-date content, debunking fake news. It also supports larger thematic campaigns and helps build a consistent base of regular readers.”

Web push is mainly used to promote new and important content. The team sends up to three campaigns per day, focusing on reaching a broad audience with key articles and updates.

To complement this approach, Demagog introduced three automated, trigger-based scenarios designed to support audience engagement and community building. These include encouraging readers to support their mission, report potentially misleading content for verification, and follow their social media channels to stay informed.
Onsite notifications are an important addition to this setup. They allow Demagog to highlight key content directly on the website and keep users engaged while they are already browsing.

Results
Demagog’s results show that each communication channel plays a different role in driving engagement and traffic.
Mass web push campaigns, used to reach a broad audience, achieved an average CTR of 0.84% and a delivery rate of 39.59% (Jan-Mar 2026). While CTR remains lower compared to automation, mass campaigns are effective in driving visibility and traffic at scale.
Automation delivered significantly stronger performance, with an average CTR of 3.86% and a delivery rate of 44.28% - delivering over 4x higher engagement than mass campaigns.
Onsite notifications also proved highly effective, reaching an average CTR of 1.91%. They offer a strong balance of visibility and engagement, benefiting from longer on-page exposure.
In addition, Demagog is steadily growing its web push subscriber base. While the growth is gradual, it helps build long-term engagement and establish a habit of returning for verified content.Â
“We started seeing the first results in the form of additional page views relatively quickly after implementation. Web push helps us generate extra traffic and reach readers with priority content, such as fact-checking alerts and key editorial projects.
At the same time, CTR in this channel remains relatively low. We observe higher effectiveness and engagement with onsite notifications.”

Key takeaway.Â
The best results come from combining reach (web push mass campaigns), visibility (onsite notifications), and high engagement (automation scenarios).
📢 Client’s opinion
“The biggest value for us is the intuitiveness of the tool and the support we receive in choosing the right notification strategy—as we are experiencing now as well. It also gives us a new channel to reach our audience with reliable and verified content.”
